Samsung feature phone strategy is REX


Samsung Electronics on February 14 launched a new feature phones series of "REX" in New Delhi, India, to strengthen its influence in emerging markets. The four new models are presented REX 90, REX 80, REX 70, and REX 60 with the specifications of the touch screen 2.8-inch to 3.5-inch and camera of 1.3-inch to 3.2-inch.


"As the number one leader and innovator in mobile devices, we are committed to developing the best mobile solutions to suit any lifestyle and budget, which is why we are very excited to launch REX series in some of the fastest emerging markets in the world," said JK Shin, President and Head of Mobile Communications & IT Division at Samsung Electronics. "The device is designed to seamlessly REX prioritize and consolidate essential phone functions are most important to consumers in different markets. REX series touchscreen phone has been adjusted to give users access to a variety of unique features that have been developed to enhance the needs and lifestyles of their everyday affordable prices. This strategy is not the first time, having previously been applying Samsung feature phone series Star, Corby and low-end smartphones such as the bada Wave Family (Wave 525, 533, 575, 723, 578, Wave Y and Wave M).

Although the REX has no specific operating system such as Android or bada, but users can download apps and games from the Samsung Apps store, themes and widgets for the TouchWiz UI, browse the internet through Opera Mini and messaging services through Chaton. Samsung said it plans to expand marketing to Russia, Africa and South America, without giving exact schedule.
